I was walking slowly down a road out in a snowstorm. The cold pierced through my hoodie as if it were knife. The wind made the drawstrings of my hoodie and the strap of my backpack that wasn't attached to my shoulder flap as if there was no tomorrow.
Why did my eighteenth birthday have to fall on November when the weather is absolutely awful? June would've been so much better. I wouldn't be half freezing to death in June. There would hopefully be more sun on June.
"C-c-c'mon Casey, d-d-don't let the bad w-w-weather get to you. You're h-h-half-way to Sidney's h-h-house," I said to myself.
I pulled out an iPod from my backpack, pulled down my hoodie revealing long black hair with streaks of purple, stuck the iPod's earbuds into my ears, and pulled my hoodie back up. If I die out here from this godawful cold I want to go while listening to music.
I went through my playlists and selected a rock playlist to play. B.Y.O.B. by System of a Down was now being blasted into my ears. I love this genre. The guitar rifts shredding, the drums banging, and the loud vocals, they are so good to listen to.
I walked slowly though the harsh freezing weather until I came upon a small green painted house. This was Sidney's house!
I hope she'll allow me to hunker down in her house. I don't have anywhere else to go. I think she'll know my situation.
I went up to the front door of Sidney's house and then weakly knocked on the door. I was panting heavily. I need warmth. I can't stand being in this weather without winter wear on.
The door opened and right in front of me was my best friend Sid. She was wearing a red wooly sweater, jeans, and a pair of reading glasses. She had luscious yellow blonde hair, blue eyes, and small multi-colored stars tattooed on her neck.
"Hey Casey! I wasn't expecting you to be here in this weather!" she said ecstatically, "Come in!"
So I went inside. We both sat down on a red couch that was by a lit fireplace. I than hugged Sid who then hugged me back.
Sid's house had a rustic vibe to it. The walls and the floor looked like your traditional log cabin. There were mahogany wood tables, chairs, and end tables around the place. There was oak wood counters with granite tops, cabinets, a rustic gold painted sink, a toaster, and a microwave at the kitchen area of the room. At the end of the counters was a large white refrigerator. There was a large queen sized bed with puffy white pillows and a plaid patched blanket. There was a large bookcase with an assortment of items from books to board games to music vinyls and CDs. On a table by the fireplace was large box TV, a vinyl record player, a CD player, an Xbox Series X, a Nintendo Switch, and a Windows laptop.
"Sid, you accept me for who I am. We've been dating for about two years. This is a big question and I understand that you might say no to it. My parents kicked me out because I'm trans..." I started.
"Casey, you don't need to ask. Of course I'll let you stay with me! It's about time you got away from your homophobic parents. If you think you are female, then you are female. I fully support you!" Sid replied.
With a tear in my eye, I happily said "Thank you!"
"No problem man. You need to be around people who actually care about you! How about I whip up something for you to eat? You look famished." Sid said back.
"Yes please. I haven't eaten anything in a week." I replied.
"That explains why you so skinny." Sid cried.
I nodded my head.
"How about this, you name anything you want to eat I'll make or order it for you." Sid beamed.
"Anything?" I queried.
"Anything!" Sid exclaimed.
"How about a supreme pizza?" I replied.
"Alright! How about I take you to the restaurant in upper Westview?" Sid beamed.
"Hell yeah man!" I replied.
